    Two Important Developments In The Billet Racing Clutch

    Recently Ram Clutches made significant changes to the mechanisms in drag racing clutches that improve clutch lever pivoting and stand-adjusting.

    A new copper-alloy bushing has been placed between the clutch fingers and the clutch pivot pins, contributing lubricity to the pivoting mechanisms and making disengagement smoother.

    In addition the stand-adjusting mechanisms have been revised. By moving them from the flywheel closer to the cover assembly the outward distortion under centrifugal forces at high engine speeds is eliminated, making the clutches easier to dismantle and reassemble.

    New 12in.Clutch Sets

    Ram has announced Heavy Duty clutch sets for upgraded GM LS-powered vehicles, including the Camaro through 2011, with the following increases in torque capacity.

    Measuring 12 inches in diameter yet operating within the confines of the conventional flat-style OEM 168-tooth flywheel, Ram's HD set transmits torque capacity of up to 550ft/lb; their Powergrip 650ft/lb; and the Powergrip HD 750ft/lb. 

    Ram's 12in clutch sets are engineered to fit directly to the 11.5in OEM clutches with flat flywheels.  However, on 2005 to current applications where recessed flywheels are standard fitment, Ram provides a replacement flat flywheel from billets of aluminum or steel. (JK)
